SMS launches free TCF and debt solutions road shows

Solent Mortgage Services (SMS) is conducting a series of nationwide seminars and workshops to highlight the importance of applying Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) guidance.

The road shows will also focus on the opportunities to help clients through structured debt solutions.

SMS believes that debt management solutions are going to play an important role in ensuring that intermediaries are offering best advice to clients when refinancing is no longer a realistic option.

Ian Balfour, sales and marketing director at SMS, said: "With the shortage of funding and the deterioration of individuals’ credit records, debt management solutions are going to be an important addition to the advice that advisers can bring to the table.

"Not offering all the possible alternatives to clients in need is not going to cut much ice with the regulator in the future and these roadshows are designed to help advisers to see how they can help clients."

The roadshows are scheduled to run throughout May and June across the country, including Scotland and Northern Ireland.
