Caledonia chairman passes away

Peter Buckley, chairman of Caledonia Investments, died this morning (2 December) following a short illness.

Buckley joined Caledonia's board in 1976 and served as its chief executive from 1987 to 2002 and as chairman since 1994.

A statement from Caledonia's board said: "His contribution to the board and his leadership of the company have been major factors in Caledonia's long term success and defined the way in which the company conducts its business."

James Loudon, deputy chairman, will assume the role of acting chairman.
