He will have responsibility for providing a full range of investment services to a portfolio of clients both within and outside Scotland.

He will also be a member of Mercer's defined contribution (DC) leadership team and will help contribute to the future strategy of the DC business within both the UK and Europe.

Henderson joins from Hymans Robertson where he was a senior investment consultant responsible for providing investment advice to a broad range of private and public sector pension funds, covering areas such as strategy, manager structure and manager selection.

Steven Blackie, unit head in Edinburgh at Mercer, commented: "Brian is well known in the industry as an experienced and trusted professional.
